Local Hot Spot: The Dirty Penguin
Location: Chino Hills
Coffee and kids aren’t usually a combination that go well together, but April Seals, the new owner of The Dirty Penguin, is looking to change that.
“I was really inspired to create a space where parents could get a great cup of coffee and connect with others while their kids were entertained. You don’t usually associate a coffee shop with children but we have managed to seamlessly blend them together.”
The cafe offers parents the chance to sip their beverages and catch up with friends, read a book, or get some work done while their kids play in The Little Penguin play area and even enjoy their very own “Babycinno.” The Dirty Penguin offers a special Kid’s Menu with tasty yet healthy options and they now hold a Storytime every Friday at 10:30am.
The owners and staff pride themselves on being kids at heart and want to make everyone feel welcome when they enter. Inside, the shop is bright and oh so Instagram worthy with bright neon signs from a local artist and plants galore.
“We wanted to create a very inviting and relaxing environment with a lush tropical feeling,” Seals says.
Aesthetics aside, The Dirty Penguin has amassed a loyal following of customers who rave about their unique and delicious drinks and menu items. From strawberry cream pop tarts to bacon cheddar scones and spinach and cheese croissants there is something for everyone, including vegans and vegetarians, but Seals insists that the avocado toast is the highlight of the menu. The cafe also makes custom specialty lattes with the lavender and salted caramel being some of their most popular.
So next time you’re in the neighborhood, swing by The Dirty Penguin and check it out for yourself- it may very well become your favorite new coffee shop.
“We are so excited to meet you and your little ones!” Seals says, grinning from ear to ear.
