It’s time to honor Dad. With Father’s Day just around the corner we scoured the Inland Empire and found an amazing husband and father of three who talked to us about life, family, and the importance of coffee. Read more about this devoted dad and skilled barber in iE Parenting’s exclusive Q&A below and be sure to check out his Instagram to see samples of his work.
How long have you been working at Old Town Barbers Temecula?
I’ve been at OTB now almost a year, it will be a year in July and I truly enjoy being there, it’s like having a second family. Also I have officially been a Barber now over 10 years and I wouldn’t change that for the world.
What are some of the best parts of your job? What do you like best about your work?
People trust me with the responsibility to help them look and feel good, I wouldn’t consider it work at all and I enjoy that very much.
What are some of the biggest ways being a parent has changed you?
It gave me purpose. Sure life was meaningful beforehand but when I was blessed with my son Michael, it showed me there is more to life, more than I ever imagined. Then came Madison and Caitlyn and my life was complete.
What are some of the most challenging aspects of parenting?
Challenging: Getting these kiddos to eat healthy, go to bed early and wake up at a reasonable time!
What are some of your favorite things to do with your kids?
We have a lot of fun whatever we are doing. Off the top of my head though, I would say playing hide and seek with Maddie and Caitlyn and on Sundays my son comes to the shop with me. Once the shop closes, we go skateboarding at one of the local skate parks, which are very clean and well kept. So shout out to the cities of Temecula, Murrieta and Elsinore for that!
What’s one piece of advice you wish you would’ve gotten before becoming a parent?
I was blessed with a wonderful family and structure that helped prepare me to do my part as a parent. Coffee though, make sure you have coffee and plenty of it. Aside from that as long as you simply do your best. That’s it, just give it your all and the rest will fall into place.
Is there anything else you would like readers to know about you?
There isn’t much to say about myself. I love basketball, art and music but mostly I love and adore my wife and children. I try my best everyday to be a solid husband and father. I wouldn’t be who I am without the help of my family and the strength and wisdom of my wife. The universe has blessed me with love and abundance.
